Dr. Emily Friefeld is a psychological associate with the Fulton Psychological Group (FPG). She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she developed expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches and testing strategies. Dr. Friefeld graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida State University in 2019. It was during her time at NSU that she discovered her passion for clinical psychology, particularly in working with children and families, which has shaped her career ever since.
Dr. Friefeld’s clinical training is comprehensive, spanning diverse settings and populations. She completed her internship at Child Provider Specialists (CPS) as part of the South Florida Consortium Internship Program, conducting neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with ADHD, learning disorders, developmental delays, and social-emotional challenges. She also provided feedback to parents and schools to guide appropriate interventions. At NSU’s Psychology Services Center, she gained invaluable experience in individual and group therapy through clinical rotations in the Adult Services Program and Guided Self-Change Program. Her therapeutic work includes using evidence-based interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, exposure therapy, and addiction-focused treatments. Additionally, Dr. Friefeld has administered and interpreted numerous psychological assessments and developed tailored intervention strategies, further honing her skills in clinical practice. Her experience extends to private practice and disability evaluations, providing her with a well-rounded perspective on psychological assessment and treatment.
Driven by personal experiences, Dr. Friefeld is passionate about empowering children to reach their full potential. Her assessments go beyond diagnosis, aiming to develop effective accommodations and support plans, including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans. By understanding each child’s unique strengths and challenges, Dr. Friefeld creates personalized strategies that promote growth in both academic and emotional development. Her dedication, warmth, and expertise make her a valuable advocate for children and adolescents striving for success.
