Jeff Lough grew up in Agoura, CA. matriculating through the Las Virgenes Unified School District from elementary through Agoura High. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2000. After teaching special education in the Los Angeles Unified School District he earned his M.S. in school counseling and psychology from California State University, Northridge in 2004 followed by his License as an Educational Psychologist and National Certification in School Psychology.
While working as a school psychologist in LVUSD he was given the opportunity to develop and lead a new school in the district. In 2008, Jeff co-founded Mariposa School of Global Education, a thriving Waldorf-informed public school currently located in Agoura Hills. During this time he earned his administrative services credential and served as the school’s founding principal for 5 years before relocating with his wife and 3 children to Northern California. Jeff returned to practicing school psychology in Humboldt County and became a part-time faculty member in the Department of Psychology Graduate Program at Humboldt State University from 2013-2019. At HSU he taught several graduate courses including Developmental Psychopathology, Educational Foundations, and Mental Health in K-12 schools. Driven by a passion for child development and opportunities for his own children Jeff and his wife also ran Forest and Farm School, an outdoor nature early childhood education program on their rural homestead in Humboldt County, Ca.
From 2019-2024, Jeff and his family lived in the Bay Area where he served as both the school psychologist and Student Support Services Director at Sebastopol Independent Charter School. As both administrator and practitioner, Jeff oversaw the district’s Response to Intervention Program (RTI), mental health services, and special education program.
Jeff has an eclectic background in education for the past 2 ½ decades. Jeff is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, an active member of the California Association of School Psychologists, and a Diplomate of the Board of School Neuropsychology. He has extensive experience and knowledge in evaluation and determining data-driven intervention for school age children across a wide-ranging spectrum of neurodiversity. In addition to testing, Jeff has a deep understanding of school systems, student support services, and special education law.
Jeff offers the entire package for your student’s educational needs. This includes testing and diagnosis of conditions impacting learning such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, attention problems, Autism, mental health issues, and AD/HD. Jeff also provides advocacy services and consultation for IEPs and 504 Plans by working collaboratively with school districts and IEP teams to help you understand your child’s educational rights and help secure the educational support and services your child will benefit from.
Additionally, Jeff provides educational therapy, working directly with students who struggle in school with learning disabilities, social skils problems, or executive functioning deficits using a variety of curricula tailored to your child’s specific needs.
